Shopping for plus-size clothing can often feel like finding a needle in a haystack. When met with an abundance of kaftans, smock dresses and shapeless items, finding trendy pieces that also fit well can be a challenge, to say the least.
As the high street often reflects fashion standards that imply curvy women only want to wear clothing that flatters and hides their bodies, it’s no wonder we struggle to find stylish garms over a size 16. Despite the difficulties many plus-size shoppers face, there are still some fashion brands that deliver the goods.
While we already have our round-up of go-to curvy fashion brands, we also wanted to do a special shout out to the under-the-radar plus-size labels you might’ve never heard of. From dainty dresses to edgier-feminine pieces, bold prints, swimwear, quirky styles reminiscent of the ‘70s, and pieces straight off the runway - there’s something for everyone.
1. Daisy Street

As we all know, ASOS is an incredible destination for all things fashion, especially curve fashion. While ASOS’ own plus-size range is a great source for fun pieces, they also have a host of other size-inclusive brands with affordable prices on-site - Daisy Street being one of them. Desperately wanting to tap into the playfulness of the '90s and early 2000s era? Daisy Street has created the love child of modern and throwback styles, available up to a size 28.
2. We Are We Wear

While the days of sunshine and lounging in a bikini feel like a distant memory, We Are We Wear’s size-inclusive swimwear and intimates make me eagerly await the return of the warmer months. Offering sizes XS to 3XL, this brand is designed by two women who advocate for body positivity, with each collection aimed at encouraging women to be themselves. Whether you’re looking for a bikini, new lingerie, a multi-purpose bikini top that can be worn even to work out in, We Are We Wear have you covered.
3. New Girl Order

New Girl Order's style is reminiscent of cool, e-girls who were Tumblr famous during the pinnacle of the site’s success in 2011. Bold, carefree, fun and still very on-trend in 2020; an aesthetic that has previously only been reserved for those smaller than a size L. But, thankfully, New Girl Order offers up to a size 28, which means curvy girls aren’t missing out on rocking trends like psychedelic prints, edgy co-ords and graphic tees.
4. Neon Rose Store

Speaking to all cool-girls who like to opt for an edgy-feminine chic aesthetic, Neon Rose Store is the place for you. Offering fun styles available in sizes 18 to 28, their collections provide options previously missing from the high street. Creating clothes that feel very reminiscent of the '70s, this brand might just encourage you to recreate the Farrah Fawcett’s flip - cutting some curtain bangs and styling some big volume waves curled away from the face.
5. Loud Bodies

Looking to make more conscious shopping decisions this new year? Loud Bodies might just be the destination for you. Producing ethically sustainable clothing, handmade by a team of four, Loud Bodies caters to all, with a size range of XXS to 10XL. If you’re searching for timeless pieces that outlast trends, look no further than Loud Bodies.
6. Lavish Alice

Like most curve fashion brands, this is one I discovered years ago through ASOS. Lavish Alice is known for their structured capes, blazers and fitted dresses, and offers styles up to a size 26. Although slightly more expensive than some of the other brands listed, Lavish Alice creates clothes that you'll want to wear season after season. This is a great first stop when you are on the hunt for party wear or an occasion 'fit. And now that the brand has introduced more casual, loungewear pieces, your at-home wardrobe is also sorted.
7. 11 Honoré

Ready to take your wardrobe to new heights and invest in pieces straight off the runway? 11 Honoré is the place, with the e-tailer offering curvy customers the best designer clothing, all in one place. From Cushnie and Christopher Kane to Dolce and Gabbana. This brand is bringing the runway, edited, and available from sizes 16 to 32.
