New York Fashion Week’s Fall/Winter 2022 season is slowly coming to a close. After six days jam-packed with runway shows, exclusive presentations and plenty of street style moments, there are a few trends that have slowly but surely made their way to the forefront.
Below, get the scoop on four fashion trends that you can expect to see everywhere next fall, but you can also start wearing them ASAP.
1. Sparkling sequins
Spotted at: Maisie Wilen, Altuzarra and Michael Kors
The F/W ’22 season was full of eveningwear moments, and many of them were glittering. From oversized platelets to matte sequins, tons of designers opted for at least a few high-shine looks.
While your calendar might not have a ton of fancy parties for sequined gowns coming up, you can definitely add a hint of sparkle to your own everyday wardrobe. Pair a sequined pencil skirt with your favorite graphic tee for a fun daytime look, or top off an all-black outfit with a twinkling jacket.
Shop the trend:
-
Commando Sequin Leggings, $198
-
Heartloom Jovie Cami, $99
-
H&M Sequined Pencil Skirt, $49.99
2. Wispy feathers
Spotted at: Brandon Maxwell, Tia Adeola and Tanya Taylor
Feathers were all over the runway and front row guests this season, but not in the way that you might think. Several collections featured wispy, sparingly used feathers that made an ethereal impact and felt ultra-feminine.
You can have your own feather moment by adding a few plumes to your smattering of accessories. From feathered heels to clutches, this trend is surprisingly wearable — no feather boa required!

3. Stylish suiting
Spotted at: Gabriela Hearst, Christian Cowan and Peter Do
If you have a few blazers in your weekly wardrobe rotation, you’re in luck because they aren’t going anywhere. This season, tons of collections featured suiting in all its forms — standout styles included oversized blazer and trouser pairings, backless suit vests and lots of strong shoulders.
TikTok has already made sure everyone owns tailored trousers, but if you don’t, they are an excellent place to start. Then consider buying a blazer in a classic silhouette but in a fun color or unexpected fabric.
Shop the trend:
-
Topshop Half Half Blazer, $123
4. Ocean blue
Spotted at: Christian Siriano, LaQuan Smith and Carolina Herrera
Very Peri may be the Pantone Color of the Year, but bright blue was the color of fashion week. From azure gowns and cobalt mini skirts to blue-tinted sunglasses, tons of designers opted to make use of the shade.
This trend is probably the most wearable of them all because you most likely already own something bright blue. If you don’t, consider a cozy sweater, knit dress or silky camisole.
Shop the trend:
-
ASOS DESIGN Chunky Oversized Sweater, $40 (Orig. $50)
-
Ted Baker London Nardaa Ribbed Long Sleeve Cardigan Sweater Dress, $285
