The New Residential Buildings in NYC Where Design Meets Fashion - Architectural Digest

There’s also 40 Bleecker, the first residential building designed by Ryan Korban, who began his design career doing the interiors of luxury apparel stores such as Balenciaga, Alexander Wang, and Aquazzura. He then moved on to work on homes for fashion designers, models, and actors such as James Franco, Kanye West, and Debra Messing. The classic-meets-contemporary 12-story, 61-residence condominium building in NoHo he worked on is now complete, with remaining residences priced from $3.65 million.

Also downtown, One Manhattan Square on the Lower East Side was designed by Meyer Davis Studio, the designer of Oscar de la Renta’s worldwide boutiques. The building has over 100,000 square feet of amenities such as a multilevel fitness center and bowling alley, along with modern interiors that combine function and style.

Back uptown on the Upper East Side, William Sofield, who has created interiors for Tom Ford and Gucci stores all over the world, is also the head designer of Beckford House & Tower. The condominium comprises two prewar-inspired buildings: Beckford House, with 32 two- to -five-bedroom homes, is currently open; Beckford Tower, with 72 residences ranging from one to six bedrooms, is expected to be ready later this year.

Elisa Orlanski Ours, the chief planning and design officer for Corcoran Sunshine Marketing Group, says that interior designers who have experience in creating spaces for luxury clothing brands resonate with many buyers. “These professionals are masters of detail and the creative use of pattern and material. The high-end retail experience is like theater, and a memorable showroom is the stage,” she says. “This translates perfectly for residential spaces, where dramatic interiors allow residents to 'star' in their own production and bring a sense of wonder and whimsy to their everyday lives.”
