Audra talks with Sydney Sprenger about what she’s been up to since her last Carolina A.M. visit when she stopped by to share fashion tips for the season. She talks with Audra about her journey from starting a high school fashion club, sewing her own designs to landing an opportunity at LA Fashion Week.
Sydney is a student at the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising in Los Angeles, California. She’s been working on her degree in Visual Communications. Her love of fashion was discovered during her years at West Florence High School (2019) where she says a staff member’s encouragement helped pave the way to following her dreams. She helped start a fashion club and created fashion shows at the school. One in which she sewed most of the outfits. For another show, she able to get sponsors and even raised money for the NICU unit at a community hospital. That type of determination landed Sydney a scholarship spot with FIDM. After the pandemic, studies moved to virtual in which she does from the east coast. Sydney has used that time to explore opportunities including competing in her first Miss SC USA, placing in the top 15. She signed with an talent agency and just completed work at the AmericasMart Atlanta as a model for the COLORS Dress Prom Showcase. She will be returning to Los Angeles this fall to walk in LA Fashion Week. You can follow her on Instagram at Syd.loren.
